Hi my babes! This morning I woke up at 7am by the rays of sun that came peeking through my bedroom curtains. Birds were singing and I even felt like doing a short morning run in the park, something I hadn’t been doing all winter long. I guess there’s no way to deny it anymore: Spring is officially in town and I couldn’t be happier! Because we were all in a desperate need of Vitamin D right?
And a new season also equals… a new wardrobe, ha! Now don’t get me wrong, I know I have quite the outfits left from last year, and the year before, and… But every girl likes some additions to her closet every new season, right?
I already discovered the main SS18 trends a few weeks ago, when I paid a visit to my beloved all-in-one shopping destination McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Roermond! After a delicious caramel latte at Starbucks, I was ready for some serious shopping. While browsing the collections in all the different stores, I already saw some main key trends popping up.
The first one was Safari, a very recognisable trend, as seen on many catwalks of big fashion designers. The safari trend is a trend that can be integrated in just about anyone’s wardrobe super easy. Think a lot of neutral shades like off-white, camel, beige, khaki. Different materials render this look by combining linen, suede and cotton drill, all flowing creating a practical, transitional and flexible look. An important item for this trend is a beige trenchcoat. A timeless piece which will finish even the most basic outfit with class, definitely worth the investment! And with a stylish and luxurious look also comes a nice designer bag of course. Endless possibilities at Designer Outlet Roermond!
The second trend I distinguished in stores was Bright Colours! Head-to-toe neon looks will create an optimistic and summer ready mood. The preferred colours to compose such kind of look are: orange, hot pink, bright yellow, red and purple. The fits of the pieces are oversized and materials are mixed all together. Musthave items for this trend are maxi dresses and two piece suits. Accessorize your look with some neon coloured sunnies, a belt or necklace and your all set for Summer!
Another big trend I noticed was Raw Denim. Blue jeans have been on trend for the last 20 years but this season you will steal the show by wearing full denim jumpsuits, matching sets and head to toe looks. A crisp white shirt underneath a denim outfit will make you look super fresh and on trend.
And last but not least, my absolute favourite trend: Prints! Whether you’re going for stripes or floral, you can’t go wrong this spring! I styled 2 looks in this trend that I can’t wait to show you!
Everybody knows the world famous quote from The Devil Wears Prada: ‘Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking…’ And well, actually it is! Although this trend has been on our radar for a few years now, It still is very fresh and bubbly in my opinion! I fell head over heels with this floral girly dress with green and orange accents from Parisian chique label Maje. The length of this dress is just perfect and with the right amount of black leather accessories, you can even add a touch of Rock-and-Roll to your look. I paired it with this cool black backpack from Coccinelle. Not only very practical but also super stylish! I found my green Gucci sunnies at Sunglass Hut. The La Place Express made the perfect backdrop for my pics, with all those fresh fruits and delicious smoothies!
And then, on to my next signature print style: Stripes! Whether you’re going for vertical or horizontal stripes, or even a mix, you’ll look great either way! The colour options for this trend are endless, but I went for my signature blue stripes. I found this shirt like skirt with ruffles at Maje and it immediately caught my eye. The fit is super feminine and the assymetric length makes the fit super interesting. I paired it with a lurex top from Sandro and a blue suede bag from Coccinelle. The Coccinelle store was recently added at the Designer Outlet Roermond, but already one of my go-to shops! I’m sure you will be seeing a lot more of this look in the next couple of months.
And so, I’m curious, what’s your favourite trend?
