If you’d asked me a few months ago about my bucket list travel destination I would have said Iceland for sure. Friends of mine that had been there described this country as the most beautiful thing they had ever seen. The primordial nature, Nordic climate and way of living is something that has been intriguing me for years.
I guess you can imagine my excitement when I was invited by Isey Skyr to join them for a press trip to Iceland to discover the Icelandic culture and visit the Isey Skyr factories.
I gathered at Brussels Airport with my fellow Belgian bloggers and journalists early on Wednesday morning and less than a 2-hour flight later, we arrived in the breathtaking Iceland. We immediately drove onto one of the most famous places to see: the Blue Lagoon, The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa located in a lava field. The warm water is filled with minerals and well known for helping against skin diseases. Honestly such a unique experience! Didn’t feel this relaxed in a very long time! 🙂 Along the way, we made sure to stop in a variety of photogenic places, aka every 2 minutes in Iceland.
After the lagoon, we checked in at the hotel and got ready for dinner at one of the nice restaurants Reykjavik has to offer, such a fun night!
A short night rest later, we were ready for day 2 of this amazing trip. First up on the agenda was a visit to MS Iceland Dairies factory to discover Isey Skyr. We learned that Ísey Skyr is a superdairy, high in protein, naturally fat-free and with a smooth texture. A product that is great for those who have an active, healthy lifestyle and are conscious of what they eat, something I tend to do most of the times 🙂 It comes in a variety of delicious fruit flavours to suit every consumer taste and Ísey Skyr is made with 3-4 times more milk than typical yoghurt and with the original Icelandic skyr cultures, via the innovative MS Iceland Dairies production process.
We got to try most of the different varieties and I was hooked already! It would be really hard for me to pick a favourite among the different choices: natural, baked apple, blueberry, cheesecake,… There’s an Isey Skyr for every occasion! 🙂
After the factory visit, it was time to check out some other well known Iceland gems like the Gulfoss Waterfall and the Pingvellir National park. So amazed by all these wonders of nature! We stopped for lunch at the Frioheimar restaurant and horsefarm, such a fun experience!
After this busy day it was already time for our last dinner together, before leaving back to belgium very early on Friday morning. Amazing how fast time flies when you’re having fun with great people.
And want to know the best part? Isey Skyr is now also available in Belgium! you can find the different varieties in your local grocery store and I’m pretty sure you will love it as much as I do. Ever since our trip, I have been eating it on a daily base, mainly before or after my work out as it is low on carbs and high on protein!
Thanks to Isey Skyr for this unforgettable experience!
